Belgian Beer Weekend

In 2020, the onset of COVID prompted us to shift our focus towards enhancing our Belgian Beer Weekend e-commerce initiatives. With additional time on our hands and a stock of merchandise & BBW glasses, we saw an opportunity to make the most of the circumstances.

It didn't require us a lot of brainstorming to create our Shopify store and in a matter of hours shop.belgianbeerweekend.jp was live and selling. With more than 2,500 glasses and hundreds of T-shirts sold, we felt that our Shopify powered e-commerce platform was ready for its ultimate task; selling pre-sale tickets for Belgian Beer Weekend!

Up until 2022, our pre-sale tickets were sold through third-party ticketing platforms. Yet, we remained acutely aware of technical restrictions that hindered the seamless integration of our proprietary QR code ticketing solutions.
It turned out that within the Shopify storefront we could seamlessly integrate via APIs our very own QR-code ticketing solution: POS Base. To put it simply, each time a pre-sale ticket is purchased via Shopify, our system is automatically activated to generate a distinctive QR-code ID. This ID is subsequently transmitted back to Shopify, where the relevant data is seamlessly incorporated as custom fields into the order information.
