BBW 2021 Nagoya
Belgian Beer Weekend
What did we do between the 4th and 5th Japanese corona wave? Well we loaded our trucks and set up our tents in Nagoya. What else could we do?
From 21 till 25 July we welcomed 18,000 visitors for a very hot Belgian Beer Weekend Nagoya! Not a bad result taking into account the "never-ending-stay-home-and-surely-don't-drink-alcohol" corona government policy. Whether this policy works, can be discussed at length (for sure its efficiency and justification is doubtful...), but we showcased again that it is possible to organize outdoor F&B events in covid times, building on experience, technology and moderation.
Social contact is instrumental for a healthy society and it is actually "contact" that most covid policies are banning. Face the fact, corona will not disappear very soon and it is therefore of utmost urgency that (Japanese) policymakers (and the media alike) change their bashing rhetoric into a constructive one towards living with corona. Life is one long string of transitions and covid is very likely not the last transition we will face. It is time to move on, albeit in a different way.
