In 2016 Japan & Belgium are celebrating 150 years of friendship. This sesquicentennial (mind your pronunciation please!) definitely deserves a toast… and a great beer. In close consultation with Duvel Moortgat we decided to use Chouffe Soleil, a blond special beer delicately fruity and deliciously refreshing. At the brewery they call it a “sunshine ale”, undeniably a perfect thirst quencher for these warm Japanese summers. Add to this the fact that Japan is also referred to as “the land of the rising sun” and the “warm” thoughts that 150 years of friendship bring, you understand why we handpicked Chouffe Soleil as the friendship beer!
“Belgium meets Japan” and this already for 150 years. So we decided to illustrate the long-standing relationship by bringing the red-hooded gnomes of the world-famous beer village Achouffe to Japan’s most iconic landmark and UNESCO World Heritage, Mount Fuji.
Anyway, it's always fun drinking beer!
